Road to One City, a mixed genre concert tour by EDM DFW, showcases local electronic dance music, hip hop artists, bands, and live art. The first city on the tour, Denton, Texas, featured a variety of local and out of state talent who supported our the One City motto to “Party With A Purpose”. The event was held at Backyard on Bell which doubles as a concert venue and restaurant baking homemade pizzas, local craft brews right in the heart of Denton, TX. Backyard on Bell recently hosted their own music festival, The Backyard Block Party, which featured two days of music from local bands.

Along with supporting local talent, One City Music and Art Festival’s motto is “Party with a Purpose”. The idea is that you can support your community or neighborhood, while still having a good time. The founders of One City, believe in supporting the local community by helping charities that are founded in the event’s host city. Road to One City: Denton chose a Denton based charity, The Denton Community Food Center. The concert event doubled as a food drive. Admission to the event was free with a suggested donation of a canned good. Dentonites responded to the cause and some who had caught wind of the event via social media, stopped by just to bring canned goods. In all, 158 pounds of canned goods were donated.

Kovan Treez, a band from Dallas, TX, got the night started performing original material written by lead singer El Kovan and drummer, Treez. The night continued with DJ performances starting with EDM DFW artist Albatrozz. To show support to the local Denton scene, DJ Spadus, a Denton resident, performed a diverse set mixing House Music and Hip-Hop. The night continued with Oklahoma City DJ, DJ Reaper and headliner, Trip G. This was the duo’s second trip to DFW to rock a One City stage. Trip G is up for two nominations with the Oklahoma City Hip Hop Awards. DJ KMOR brought his style of House Music which is infused with Soul Music and Hip Hop. The show’s closer was Melee Max. The closing DJ duties are a big honor and Melee Max does not disappoint. He brought his creativity that makes his party vibe so unique. He wears many hats working as a singer, songwriter, producer and DJ. The night ended with positive vibes and the EDM DFW team was blown away by the support of the city of Denton.
