Cartwright Jazz returns to Oklahoma performing at their first One City event. The Dallas-Fort Worth group currently resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Following their hearts and chasing their dreams, the group decided to make the move to Music City. The band features talented musicians provides an escape for music lovers through the art of improvisation. Improvisation is a unique skill that requires band members to be sharp and quick on their feet. This is similar to rapper who can freestyle vs rappers who write lyrics only. Most can play the written music, but going down the rabbit hole of creativity allows the group to add something unique to every show. A one of one experience. The group knows how to rock a party leaning on Funk and Groovy rhythms to make you move your body.
The band stays busy and has a lot of experience. Members have played as sidemen for Erykah Badu, Dustin Lynch, Jana Kramer, Chantae Cann, and Kirk Franklin. The bands self entitled EP, Cartwright Jazz, was released in 2016. This year has been a busy one for the group just coming off of tour in Alabama. When speaking to Robert Miller, founder of the band, he said,” We are excited about Oklahoma City. If the opportunity comes to play, we want to be there.” The opportunity arrives Saturday, March, 10th at The Venue OKC.
